BCA and LTA monitoring

Automated ground, structure and slope monitoring for Singapore works

Singapore building works near railways, deep excavations and slopes must monitor ground and structure movement and report it. Kodifly's ScanStation LiDAR watches the site around the clock from a fixed point, compares every scan with the last and alerts your Qualified Person when movement passes the limit you set.

What monitoring has to catch.

8 of 8 included

  • Excavation and shoring movement

  • Adjacent building movement

  • Railway protection zone structures

  • Slopes during building works

  • Alert limits you set

  • Immediate notice when a limit is passed

  • Dated results for the QP's report

  • Continuous scanning of hot spots

From survey to alert.

  1. Survey and place

We choose the fixed point that sees the whole zone.

  2. Baseline scan

The first scan is the reference for every later one.

  3. Scan around the clock

Every scan is compared with the last, from the same place.

  4. Alert and report

Movement past your limit alerts the QP, and the record is ready to report.

Real movement, not instrument noise.

The unit never moves, so every scan is taken from the same place and the difference between two scans is real change on the ground. One dated record shows the whole surface, not only the points you installed instruments on.

Monitoring questions

What monitoring do Singapore building works need?

The supervising Qualified Person must regularly inspect and analyse the instrumentation for ground and adjacent structures, report the results to the Commissioner of Building Control periodically, and notify the Commissioner when movement passes the allowable limits (Building Control Regulations, regulation 37).

What does LTA ask for near a railway?

Where cumulative movement of an underground or at-grade rapid transit structure is expected to exceed 5 mm, an automatic remote-control monitoring system is required, with at least four cycles of results in 24 hours and a continuous mode for localised areas (Code of Practice for Railway Protection, 6.3.3 and 6.3.4).

Does Kodifly deliver automated monitoring?

Yes. ScanStation scans from a fixed point around the clock and compares every scan with the last. Kodifly installs and runs it, sets the alert limits to your monitoring plan and sends alerts to your Qualified Person.

How does it fit with our instruments?

ScanStation adds a continuous, whole-surface view to inclinometers, settlement markers and survey points, and feeds the same record. Kodifly delivers it alone or alongside them.

What about slopes?

BCA requires a Qualified Person to assess slopes formed or modified by building works for failure risk before construction, and to recommend how the slope is monitored while works continue. ScanStation watches the slope continuously and flags change.
